The Duchess

The adorable little black kitty that was trapped at the car dealership is a girl! We suspect she is about 6-7 months old.

od1Here she is sedated and getting prepped for her spay.

All went well with her spay and after spending the night recovering she went to her new home! She seems more of a scared friendly cat rather than a feral cat, so I opted not to get her eartipped. The woman who was watching out for this kitty at the dealership found someone to give her a home!

She will be mostly an inside kitty, living with two other spoiled cats. I met one of her new humans, and he really likes taking in cats that have little to no chance of being adopted. His beloved black cat, The Duke, died a year ago after a long life. It was on the one year anniversary of his beloved Duke’s death that he saw his friend’s Facebook posting about this black homeless cat needing a home. He interpreted that sign as destiny and immediately replied that he would take her!

od2Post-op, still sedated, but soon to come around.

The Duke started as a feral cat too and he really worked with him over the years and he tamed up beautifully. This guy knows all about how to tame feral cats, so befriending this scared little girl won’t take him long.

Since The Duke was The Duke, he tells me it is only fitting that this girl be known as The Duchess! She will be living less than 2 miles from my house and the guy promised to send me pictures and updates. The Duchess really lucked out to find such a good home where she will be spoiled rotten! I can’t wait to see the pictures of her living into her name.

From scraping a life together as a homeless cat at a car dealership on the corner of two busy roads to now on the way to being a spoiled inside kitty, The Duchess will be living the life all cats are intended to enjoy – just like her noble name implies! Long live The Duchess!

This makes me SO happy to read! I’m sure that these pics of her sedated are the only ones where she’ll actually be still for quite some time to come (i.e. crazy kittenhood). LOL.

And how perfect, the timing. Yes, The Duke definitely had a paw in this!

Wonderful! I am so glad that she had a home waiting for her, especially considering the extra cold weather you have been having! She is beautiful. After gettting our 9 year old tuxedo last Sept. I am starting to fall with all cats that are black! I see many in our future!
Thank you for all the help you give the kitties!
